• A provider-by-provider breakdown. Sites like Expedia, Hotels.com and Booking.com, each with its price and the extra you'd pay compared with Pointrs Travel.
• A "Live prices" tag. The comparison is pulled for your dates and guests, not a stale snapshot.
• Honest gaps. When a provider can't quote your dates, we say so instead of leaving you wondering.
• Price-drop alerts. Not ready to book? Pop your email into "Alert me if price drops" and hit Notify me.

A real example: five nights at Hotel New Otani Tokyo Garden Tower

Let's put it to the test. We searched Hotel New Otani Tokyo Garden Tower, a 4.5-star hotel in Tokyo, for five nights from 1 to 6 March 2027, one room and two guests. Prices are in Australian dollars, and you can switch Pointrs Travel between AU$, US$ and GB£. Here's what we found:

*The comparison panel couldn't return a live Booking.com quote for these dates, so we checked Booking.com directly: Garden Tower Standard Twin Room, Non-Smoking, two guests, breakfast included, free cancellation before 26 February 2027.

That's a gap of AU$7,370 against Hotels.com and Expedia on a single hotel stay. The VIP price is also lower than the standard Pointrs Travel price, dropping from AU$2,449 to AU$2,163 once VIP applies, and the Pointrs Travel price includes taxes and fees.

Now put that next to the cost of getting in. For Pointrs subscribers, Pointrs Travel VIP membership is just AU$1 per year. A gap of thousands of dollars against a AU$1 membership is the kind of maths we like. Savings will vary by hotel, dates and what other sites are charging on the day you search, which is exactly why the comparison is there.

Prices correct as at 20 October 2026, for one room, five nights and two guests. Other providers' fees may vary, and room types and inclusions differ between listings, so check the Rooms tab before you book.

How the comparison works (and what to keep in mind)

We'd rather you trust the number than be dazzled by it, so here's how to read the panel properly.

The other prices are indicative. They're sourced from third-party sites, for one room, and each provider's fees may vary. Treat them as a very good guide to what you'd pay elsewhere, not a guarantee of the final checkout total.

Compare like with like. Room type, bed configuration, breakfast, and cancellation terms can all change a price. Before you book, check the Rooms and Policies tabs on the hotel page so you know exactly what you're getting.

Not every provider will quote every stay. In the example above, Booking.com couldn't return a live quote for those dates. That's normal, and it's why the panel shows each provider's status rather than hiding the gaps.

Check what's included. Your Pointrs Travel price states whether taxes and fees are included, while other providers' fees may vary, so always review the final price at checkout.

The point isn't to replace your judgement. It's to give you the evidence in one place so that judgement takes seconds instead of an evening.
