On the plus side: no blackout dates, no fixed inventory, and frequent flash sales that can deliver genuinely good value on domestic routes. Delta leads the legacy carriers with an on-time arrival rate of approximately 82.4% in 2025 data, compared to United at 78.1% and American at 74.3%. If reliability matters more than redemption optimisation, Delta earns that loyalty.
On the minus side: Delta SkyMiles are generally valued at 1.1–1.2 cents each on average— poor value for international Business Class where the dynamic model prices premium awards at or above cash fare equivalents.
